Turbocharged engine maintenance analysis

Do not drive immediately after the turbocharged engine starts, it needs to warm up for a few seconds to fully lubricate the turbocharger before increasing the engine speed. And don't turn off the engine immediately after the turbocharged engine runs at high speed for a long time. This is because when the turbocharged engine is working, the oil of the turbocharger lubricates and cools the rotor bearings. After the turbocharged engine running at high speed suddenly shuts down, the oil lubrication will be quickly interrupted, and the heat inside the turbocharger cannot be absorbed by the oil. At the same time, the turbocharger rotor is still rotating at high speed under the action of inertia, which often causes the "seize" between the turbocharger rotating shaft and the shaft sleeve to damage the bearing and shaft.

In addition, after the engine is suddenly turned off, the temperature of the exhaust manifold is very high at this time, and its heat will be absorbed into the turbocharger housing, and the oil staying inside the supercharger will boil into carbon deposits. When this carbon deposit accumulates more and more, it will block the oil inlet, causing the bushing to lack oil and accelerating the wear between the turbine shaft and the bushing.

The oil used in the turbocharged engine must have good wear resistance, high temperature resistance, fast lubricating oil film establishment, high oil film strength and good stability, so only synthetic or semi-synthetic oil can meet these needs. Clean the air filter on time to prevent dust and other impurities from entering the high-speed rotating compressor impeller, resulting in unstable rotation speed or increased wear of shaft sleeves and seals. Engine oil and filters must be kept clean to prevent the entry of impurities, otherwise the lubricating ability of the oil will decrease, resulting in premature failure of the turbocharger. It is necessary to frequently check whether the sealing ring of the turbocharger is sealed, because if the sealing ring is not sealed, the exhaust gas will enter the engine lubrication system through the sealing ring, causing the oil to deteriorate and the crankcase pressure to rise rapidly. In addition, when the engine is running at low speed Oil is also discharged from the exhaust pipe through the sealing ring or enters the combustion chamber for combustion, resulting in excessive consumption of oil and a "burning oil" condition.

In use, always pay attention to check the operation of the turbocharger to prevent the supercharger from loosening and falling off, which will cause the turbocharger to fail and the air to short-circuit into the cylinder. When the engine is running at low speed, the oil will also be discharged from the exhaust pipe through the sealing ring or enter the combustion chamber for combustion, resulting in excessive consumption of oil and "burning oil". When there are phenomena such as excessive oil consumption, the turbocharger is likely to be faulty and must be removed for maintenance.
